Members of the Skiff family recently said farewell to a beloved friend and former coworker when Dwight Diltz passed away on April 11, following a 14-month battle with brain cancer.

Dwight was born May 15, 1967 in Des Moines. He graduated from North Polk High School with the class of 1985. He received his Journeyman Electrician License and Degree from ABC Electrical in Des Moines in 2000.

Dwight married his wife Krista in 1995. They lived in Urbandale for their first eight years of marriage, then moved to the Melbourne, Iowa area.  Dwight worked for the Meisner Company for seven years and then both he and Krista joined Skiff Medical Center in 2003. In 2007, they welcomed their daughter Madison.

Dwight, a member of the Plant Operations team, was known through the organization for being dedicated and hard-working. In June 2017, he was named a Spirit of Mercy award winner after being nominated by several coworkers.

“There are very few who make it a point to go as above and beyond as Dwight,” the nomination read. “He understands that he has a chance to positively impact everyone in the hospital. He anticipates every need, and has provided Skiff with excellence, day in and day out.”

An outpouring of affection from coworkers both present and past was posted to Skiff’s Facebook page in the days since Dwight’s death, showing how many lives he touched throughout the hospital:
