Skiff, TPI partner to promote employee mammograms

November 23, 2017

Skiff and TPI have recently partnered together to prioritize the health of TPI’s female employees. In recognition of October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a TPI representative reached out to Jane Hettinger, Manager of the Philips Imaging Center at Skiff, to see if Skiff could set aside a specific time dedicated to giving mammograms to TPI staff.

“Although we weren’t able to accommodate them in October, because we were already booked up, we told them we were more than happy to work with them on this initiative,” Hettinger said.

Hettinge and her team ended up designating not one but four days for TPI mammograms, including a Saturday, to best fit individual schedules.

Twenty-seven women who work at TPI ended up scheduling mammograms. This was nearly a sixfold increase over the five women who were screened during the entire previous year.

Nancy Ford, an accountant at TPI, said the arrangement between her employer and the hospital is definitely why she scheduled her mammogram.

“I’ve heard I should get it done, but I’m sure I wouldn’t have come in without this particular promotion,” she said. “TPI really worked to get the word out, through e-mails and flyers and posters. They work to encourage a lot of health-related things. They really do care.”

Hettinge said she hopes this is the first of many business partnerships. “It’s important for women to get screened, and whenever there are outside organizations who want to ensure easier access for their employees, we’re eager to work with them.”
