Physical Therapy

Skiff’s highly trained and experienced physical therapists provide services to evaluate and treat a wide variety of injuries, illnesses and other health-related conditions that limit a person’s ability to move and perform the activities of life.  Skiff PT provides many specialized areas of treatment, including aquatic, geriatrics, neurological, orthopedic, pediatrics and sports therapy. The cost of physical therapy will vary based on your individual needs.

Orthopedics – Skiff’s therapists use therapeutic exercise and manual therapy and other treatment modalities to restore motion, strength and function to perform everyday tasks and recreational activities.  Our licensed therapists will perform a complete evaluation to determine the sources that may be leading to the movement problems you are experiencing.  A therapist will work with you to establish goals and a treatment program to restore your physical abilities.

Sports therapy – Sports medicine experts at Skiff provide specialized care and services to student athletes and our adult athletic population. Our program with local high schools allows us to provide expert care at events, including injury assessment, referral for further care or evaluation when necessary, suggestions for rehabilitation, and education of high school athletes, coaches and family/medical providers.

Neurological rehabilitation – Our caring team will work with you and your family to develop a treatment plan to help regain strength, mobility and independence. Skiff's rehabilitation team works with a wide variety of neurological conditions including cerebral palsy, strokes, head injuries, spinal cord injuries and Parkinson's.

Aquatic therapy – Aquatic therapy is therapeutic exercise in a warm-water pool.  The buoyancy of the water helps to assist motion and minimize pain as it provides resistance to strengthen weak muscles.  You do not need to be a swimmer to receive pool therapy.  In fact, you don’t even need to get your hair wet.  Aquatic therapy is especially useful for: arthritis (all types), fibromyalgia and polymyalgia, joint pain, recovery from joint replacement surgery, gait or balance problems, back pain, weakness, weight loss and therapy during pregnancy.

Pediatrics – Skiff has therapists experienced in treating children from birth to 18 years old. We provide a comprehensive program of developmental, motor and communication skills. We offer age- and developmentally appropriate treatments tailored to each child’s needs. Our therapists work closely with your family to develop goals and a beneficial home program.

Women's health (specialized services for women) – Skiff PM&R recognizes the special needs of women and provides a multitude of treatments and services designed just for their specific needs, including urinary incontinence, pregnancy-related musculoskeletal conditions, pelvic pain, fibromyalgia, osteoporosis and post-mastectomy/lymph edema protocols.

Breast prosthetic fittings – Staff members within our Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation department are trained in post-breast surgery prosthetics and garment fitting.  We carry a full line of prostheses and bras to accommodate a woman’s body type, breast shape and lifestyle. Scheduled appointments and a private consultation room ensure individualized attention and fittings.  In addition, if desired, we can help arrange an evaluation with one of our staff physical therapists or occupational therapists to address any pain, swelling or mobility issues.

Vestibular rehabilitation – This therapy is utilized to assist individuals suffering from short-term or persistent dizziness or balance issues.   Balance exercises and manual therapy techniques are used to identify the cause of dizziness or balance deficits and correct these problems.

Monday-Friday, 7 a.m.-5:30 p.m.
