Mothers-to-be will find a nurturing and family-oriented environment at Skiff Medical Center. Having a baby is a joyous, miraculous experience – one made even more special by the personalized, one-on-one care you'll receive. Skiff's “New Beginnings” program is designed to make the birthing experience comfortable for the mother, the baby and the family.

Our beautiful, private birthing suites combine all the comforts of home with modern medical technology. You'll experience labor, delivery and your postpartum stay in the same comfortable room. During your labor and delivery, you'll have access to the latest in pain control techniques (including epidural anesthesia) through your physician and our anesthesia department.

We shower you with individual attention during your stay. By the time you return home with your baby, you'll have very special memories of the way we helped your family grow.

After your baby arrives, you'll enjoy a full complement of services through Skiff Medical Center, including:

  • Our “Weigh to Grow” program offers a weekly opportunity to monitor your baby's weight and developmental growth.
  • Parents may choose to have a Skiff Medical Center audiologist perform a newborn hearing test on their baby. This simple test can identify possible hearing loss even before the baby leaves the hospital.
  • Our lactation consultant is available to help new mothers and babies learn to breastfeed. She can answer questions, solve problems and follow up with visits to the home.

Each mom receives a visit from a Jasper County Public Health Nurse while she is in the hospital. Home visits may also be arranged to monitor the health and well-being of mom and baby.
