Special Care Unit

Commonly referred to as “intensive care,” our Special Care Unit provides compassionate, personalized care to those who are critically ill, recovering from surgery or who otherwise need specialized care, such as cardiac monitoring.

Our four-bed Special Care Unit operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week and is primarily staffed by registered nurses.

Skiff Medical Center is a city-owned hospital in Newton, Iowa. Skiff also serves the nearby communities of Baxter, Colfax and Monroe through freestanding medical clinics, and enjoys a close partnership with the physicians of Newton Clinic and other area providers.
