Skiff ER facts:
- Our department treats at least 9,500 patients each year.
- Skiff Medical Center employs four emergency medicine physicians
- Surgeons are available 24-7 should an ER patient require immediate surgery.
- Our department has nine beds in all, with five exam rooms, a three-cart trauma and cardiac monitoring area and an orthopedic room.
- All our ER nurses are certified in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and have completed the Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC). They are also HAZMAT-certified to deal with situations involving hazardous materials.
- Skiff is a Level IV Trauma Center, certified to treat and stabilize any trauma patient, and coordinate the transfer of the patient to the appropriate Level I, II or III Trauma Center when appropriate.
- Our ER is fully computerized, giving physicians immediate bedside access to patients' electronic medical records.
