How do I apply?

The easiest way to apply is to complete our online application, to which you may also attach your resume.  If you prefer to fill out a hard copy, applications are available at the Skiff front desk, in the HR department or you can click here for a printable version.  Completed application forms may be delivered in person or mailed to: Human Resources department, Skiff Medical Center, 204 N. 4th Ave. E., Newton, IA 50208.  You may also scan and e-mail the form, along with your resume, to HR@skiffmed.com.

Who can I contact if I have questions or trouble applying online?

How often is your website updated?

New positions are added to www.skiffmed.com every Thursday. Positions are deleted from the website as they are filled.

How long do you keep my application on file?

Applications are kept on file for one year. If a position becomes available, we do review applications on file, and may contact you. However, if you are interested in an open position, please give us a call at (641) 791-4350 to let us know of your interest.

What benefits are available?

Employees who work 16-31 hours per week qualify for health insurance, prescription drug coverage, dental and vision coverage at part-time benefit rates. Additionally, part-time employees qualify for IPERS, life insurance, health service discount, on-site pharmacy discount, flex spending accounts, employee assistance program, free mammograms and short-term disability.

Employees who work 32-40 hours per week qualify for health insurance, prescription drug coverage, dental and vision coverage at full-time benefit rates. These employees also qualify for all the above-mentioned benefits plus long-term disability.

What type of paid time off do you offer?

All employees accrue paid time off (PTO) based on hours worked up to 40 hours per week. PTO is used for holidays, vacation and sick time.

I am a high school student.  What type of positions are available for me?

Occasionally we have positions available in our kitchen/cafeteria.  Usually scheduled hours are evenings 3:30-7:30 p.m., including weekends.

Skiff Medical Center is a city-owned hospital in Newton, Iowa. We provide services to Jasper County residents in all major health areas, including general surgery, orthopedic surgery, radiology, obstetrics, emergency medicine, hospice, home care, laboratory, respiratory, audiology, physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy. The Skiff Specialty Clinic hosts more than 20 physicians specializing in cardiology, dermatology, ENT, gastroenterology, nephrology, neurology, oncology, pulmonology and urology. Skiff also serves the nearby communities of Baxter, Colfax and Monroe through freestanding medical clinics, and enjoys a close partnership with the physicians of Newton Clinic and other area providers.
