Frequently Asked Questions

How do I apply?

The easiest way to apply is to complete our online application or download a copy and e-mail it to our Human Resources (HR) department (HR@skiffmed.com). A resume may also be sent via this e-mail address. Or, you may pick up an application at our front office or HR department. Complete and return applications to Human Resources at 204 N. 4th Ave E., Newton, IA 50208.

Who can I contact if I have questions or trouble applying online?

You may contact Human Resources by e-mailing HR@skiffmed.com or contacting Ellen Graber, HR Recruiter, at (641) 791-4351.

How often is your Web site updated?

New positions are added to www.skiffmed.com every Friday. Positions are deleted from the Web site as they are filled.

How long do you keep my application on file?

Applications are kept on file for one year. If a position becomes available, we do review applications on file, and may contact you. However, if you are interested in an open position, please give us a call at (641) 791-4351 to let us know of your interest.

What benefits are available?

Employees who work 16-31 hours per week qualify for health insurance, prescription drug coverage, dental and vision coverage at part-time benefit rates. Additionally, part-time employees qualify for IPERS, life insurance, health service discount, on-site pharmacy discount, flex spending accounts, employee assistance program, free mammograms, and short-term disability.

Employees who work 32-40 hours per week qualify for health insurance, prescription drug coverage, dental and vision coverage at full-time benefit rates. These employees also qualify for all the above-mentioned benefits plus long-term disability.

What type of paid time off do you offer?

All employees accrue paid time off (PTO) based on hours worked up to 40 hours per week. PTO is used for holidays, vacation and sick time.

What CEU hours do you offer?

For RNs and LPNs, Skiff Medical Center provides 2 CEU days per year for continuing education. 

I am a high school student.  What type of positions do you have available for me?

Occasionally, we have a Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) position that fits a high school student’s schedule.  To qualify for a CNA position, the applicant must have completed the Certified Nurse Aide class.  DMACC offers the classes frequently.
